The requirement of new cash sources for municipal financing is one thing; the quest for winning the government stupidity policy award of 2008 is quite another.

Many Montreal and off-island workers presently commute to work across toll-free, Federal Government bridges.

Imagine if workers essential to Montreal's viability choose to find work without the necessity of crossing those bridges. Or what if they choose to shop exclusively where they live?

Reasonable tolls for bridge maintenance are something we could live with, if necessary; tolls for taxes are something Montreal regional voters will not sanction.

AffiliationQuebec says this is a policy that needs rethinking.
